October 20th, 2001 — Found in my archives is this picture of UBC rugby players about to lift a team mate for a line-out during a game at UBC. For some reason, possibly the isolation, there’s no opposing team in the frame, it’s very funny.
November 4th, 1975 — Prince of Wales in black playing Magee at Quilchena Park in a Vancouver city high school rugby game. Prince of Wales defeated the previously unbeaten Magee 6-4. It’s taken a long time to track down the details of this game as the pictures never ran in the paper, just the story, which is a shame.
Nov 2nd, 1974 — BC scrum half Darryl Nollette gets his hair pulled by Newfoundland’s Frank Deacy during the Canadian interprovincial rugby final at Brockton Oval. Frank was embarrassed by his actions but did write and ask for a print.
Feb 22nd, 1975 — Another couple of pictures from the rugby game between New Zealand’s Wainuiomata rugby team and the UBC old boys at Brockton Oval in Stanley Park. Richard Eddy gives a punishing blow to Peter Cahoon of UBC who might be the same person who was carried off the field later in the game.
Feb 22nd, 1975 — The Wainuiomata rugby team from New Zealand, left, waiting for a lineout during a game against the UBC old boys at Brockton Oval in Stanley Park.
May 31, 2003 — Vancouver, BC — BC Secondary School Rugby Championships at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium. Hugh McRoberts of Richmond vs Collingwood of West Vancouver.
March 1977 — It was half time at a rugby game at the University of BC stadium and a player needed an injury taped. Another example of a picture that contributes nothing to an understanding of the game but still, has to be taken.
