Through Blurb books I’ve published a book of my pictures taken at oldtimer races, mostly in BC but also at the tracks in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, and Alberta. It’s a nice book but expensive because it’s printed one at a time. You do, however, get it at cost as there’s no markup in the price for me. You can browse through the book HERE or you can scroll through the pictures in the book HERE. If you’re in one of the pictures and would like a copy for your iPhone just right click and download it, no charge. (Above is Tiger Wingert (16), Agassiz, BC. June 2010)

July 18th, 2004 — I have lots of photographs of Zoli Berenyi so it was hard to make a choice as to which one should lead off a series honouring his years in motocross. I decided on this one as although he was an amazing rider he was also a tireless worker and my first memory of him is at an Alberta Oldtimer National hauling hose around the Antler Lake track late on the Saturday afternoon after breaking his collarbone and not able to ride the rest of weekend. Most riders would have gone home or be sitting under a tree sipping a beer but not Zoli. This picture is from the 2004 BCOT race at Agassiz and Zoli, true to form, 72 years old, on a blistering hot day, was pulling hose, helping water the track between his motos. Zoli Berenyi died July 20th, 2010. He was 78 years old.
1970’s — The picture above is the first picture I took of Zoli Berenyi although at the time I had no idea who he was or who anyone was in motocross racing. I was photographing this race at Antler Lake on spec for the Edmonton Journal and never managed to get names or results to go with the story as races were kind of hap hazard in those days. Although Zoli is not displaying his usual number 67 I’m sure it’s him. Check out the socks.
July 18th, 2004 — Zoli Berenyi, above, talking with friends, including Norm Duvall of the Washington Oldtimers to his right, before his moto at a BCOT National in Agassiz. Zoli died of cancer, July 20th, 2010 just short of his 78th birthday.
June 1987 — Raul Tenorio on his way to a third place finish in the masters class at the Alberta Oldtimer National east of Edmonton. #061
