Ladner Criterium

July 6th, 2019 — Leon Echermann and Ed Veal during their long breakaway in the crash filled Ladner Criterium won by Travis McCabe. Hendrik Pineda took a hard fall towards the end of the race. He managed to walk off the course but couldn’t continue.

Hurdles are tough

May 9th, 2019 — Hurdles are tough enough but winning the senior boys 400 meter hurdles with loose shoe laces, that’s really tough. Joseph Lucas from Killarney High School winning on day one of the Vancouver High School Track and Field Championships at Point Grey High School. Prince of Wales beats Magee

November 4th, 1975 — Prince of Wales in black playing Magee at Quilchena Park in a Vancouver city high school rugby game. Prince of Wales defeated the previously unbeaten Magee 6-4. It’s taken a long time to track down the details of this game as the pictures never ran in the paper, just the story, which is a shame.

Shot with an iPhone

March 31st, 2019 — As hurdles pictures go this isn’t the greatest but it’s still pretty good especially since it was shot with an iPhone which is all I had with me when I rode by during my morning bike ride. It’s a heat of the men’s decathlon hurdles at the UBC Open Track Meet at UBC’s Dhillon oval.

June 1st 1974 — Tom Griffin of Mount Douglas on his way to winning the 1500 metres in a meet record of 3:59 over John Martens of Burnaby South at the 1974 BC high school provincial track and field championships at Minoru Park in Richmond. .
