Throne room

October 19th, 2023 — The so called “Throne Room” in a woods next to UBC in the 6700 block of North West Marine Drive, where students gather to discuss issues of the day.

Heritage barn

October 10th, 2023 — There is a heritage barn with out buildings in Burgoyne Bay Park, Salt Spring Island, that has been waiting for years to be restored. It’s made from logs and rough cut timbers and the names of the animals who once sheltered in it could still be found over the stalls. Until recently it was in pristine condition, not a mark on it. A few days ago we walked by during a hike and found it covered in graffiti. It will be impossible to restore.

September 28th, 2023 — In the past there was much talk in Vancouver about preserving view cones, the ability to see the mountains from city streets. They’re long gone. Looking north west on Cordova Street from the overpass to 200 Granville Street.

September 18th, 2023 — Looking east (above) from the Masonic Cemetery on Douglas Road towards the new high rises of Brentwood in Burnaby and then north (below) to bungalows still left over from the 1960’s; but not for long.

September 6th, 2023 — This house in the 600 block West 28th Avenue sold recently for about $4 million and will be demolished as part of a land assembly and replaced with 12 garden homes.
