August 19th, 2014 — “If you can’t drop the old guy on the mountain bike you’re not ready to move up from the novice class.” A bit of craziness in the novice class peloton from the last Escape Velocity Tuesday night criterium at UBC for this year. No, he wasn’t racing although as he passed by a spectator was heard to say, “Doesn’t that guy look a lot like Sluggo“. More pictures from the race below.
July 10th, 2014 — Luke Keough (11) of the United Health Care pro cycling team won the final sprint to win the 2014 Giro di Burnaby over teammate Ken Hanson.
In the women’s race, Erica Allar just squeaked by Leah Kirchmann in the final sprint for the win.
July 9th, 2014 — Winner of the 2014 Gastown Gran Prix Leah Kirchmann shakes hands after the race with Joanne Kiesanowski who finished second. It might have ended differently if one of Kiesanowski’s lead out riders hadn’t crashed exiting turn one on the last lap.
There was also a crash in the early laps of the men’s race which sent at least 20 riders into the pits for repairs.
July 6th, 2014 — Jesse Anthony of the Optum Kelly Benefits Strategies cycling team celebrates as he crosses the finish line to win the Tour of Delta road race in Tsawwassen in 3 hours 27 minutes. The race was part of BC Superweek 2014. More pictures from this race below.
August 2, 1977 — A pedestrian walks across Water Street right through the middle of the peloton during the 1977 Gastown Grand Prix bicycle race. Those were the days. This Wednesday the 2014 edition of the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix starts at 6:15 for the women and 7:30 for the men, in Gastown.
July 1st, 2014 — Oliver Wood of Team Devo celebrates winning his first Tuesday night criterium at UBC after holding onto a break that started on the bell lap. More pictures below and much more to come next week when BC Superweek and the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix take place.
May 20th, 2014 — A category three rider sprints for the prime at last night’s Escape Velocity Tuesday night criterium at Glenlyon Business Park in Burnaby. More pictures below.
April 27th, 2014 — It’s difficult to know what’s worse, dropping the bike while leading, or turning around while lying on the pavement and realizing there is a good chance half the peloton (below) is about to ride right over you. They didn’t and Brendan Armstrong of TAG Cycling was soon back on his bike and finished the race.

April 26th, 2014 — Jacob Schwingboth takes off his jacket on the climb up 256th Street two laps from the finish of this years Ride the Ridge road race. By this time Jacob was well into his break and had an insurmountable lead. More pictures below.
Louisa Scarlett riding for Musette Caffe won the Cat 3/4 women’s race with a final sprint in the rain.
March 16th, 2014 — The fourth race of the Escape Velocity Spring Series was held in Langley today on the Murchie Road course. It was wet and cold and the spray hanging in the air looked much like sleet.
